Huddersfield, ENGLAND (May 16, 2019) – Huddersfield Town and Bugeaters FC have today announced a relationship that will focus on connecting the Academy with the Nebraska-based club in the United States.
This unique, mutually beneficial partnership will include collaboration on techniques, strategy and methods used in the US and English games, whilst the Bugeaters will find ways that they can offer Town’s Academy’s scholars a path into football and education in the States.
You can read the rest of their Press Release here:
Bugeaters FC since their founding have been a modern, progressive and forward thinking club. This partnership with Huddersfield Town is groundbreaking for many reasons and quite frankly I am amazed that this Partnership ever even happened.
In most circumstances, one might think: “Why would a club that was recently in the Premier League, partner with a club that is in the 4th tier of U.S Soccer considering they aren’t even a professional club?”
Firstly, Huddersfield will get to look at young american talent that they could possibly snatch up before anyone else has the ability to. Secondly, it’ll further create a fan base for Huddersfield in Nebraska and in the surrounding areas and we know how important American fans can be for English football clubs. And third, Huddersfield can possibly help some of their younger guys get into soccer and education here in the states. Sometimes young guys in England and Europe drop out of the game but don’t have education to fall back on so this will create a new dynamic for Huddersfield Town’s young players who wish to pursue an education while continuing to play soccer.
As for Bugeaters FC this is absolutely massive! This puts them on the map of global soccer and It brings a ton of attention to them. Through this partnership they can strengthen their academy through all of the knowledge that they can learn from Huddersfield. They can use this connection to open more doors for them as a club and it gives them some more credibility among American Soccer Clubs.
This can possibly revolutionize how Clubs outside of the American “Top Tier” operate. Clubs like Bugeaters FC usually get completely swept aside by the United States Soccer Federation and are largely ignored by the mainstream soccer media here in the U.S but this partnership forces people to talk about them. It shows that you don’t need to be in the MLS’s pocket to make an impact on soccer here in the states.
I can’t wait to see how this partnership flourishes.
