So when I first heard about this, all I could think of was “Man, couldn’t they have picked a better song to celebrate their team with?? This song is super overplayed and hell, Oasis has better songs for them to pick from”.

Apparently this tradition started back in 2011 when one of their coaches would hum the song after wins. Soon the players started to get in on it and sing on the team bus rides and in the hotels and eventually it made it’s way to the stands. Today, after every home win the supporters raise their scarves and sing to celebrate their team.

But you know what, traditions don’t have to make logical sense to you or me. They just have to make sense to the people participating in it. And honestly its impossible to watch the video below and now start singing too. It’s infectious.

Atlanta has the golden spike, Portland has Timber Joey and the Log, and Minnesota has an iconic, albeit overplayed, Brit Pop anthem.
